On May 12, 2025, the 17th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day themed event, jointly hosted by the China Disaster Prevention Association and the Chaoyang District People's Government of Beijing, and organized by the Chaoyang District Emergency Management Bureau and the Chaoyang District Earthquake Administration, was held in Beijing.
The event, themed "Everyone Talks about Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies - Investigating Disaster Hazards Around Us", aims to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief, and enhance the awareness and ability of the whole society to prevent disaster risks.

At the "Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Cultural Festival" event, Zeyu Housing, a member unit of the Hefei Emergency Management Association, officially unveiled its "earthquake-resistant black technology modular folding community". It gained industry recognition for its "intelligent folding technology + ecological integration system + modular design". Zeyu Housing demonstrated on-site how integrated container houses can truly transform from "emergency shelters" into "warm folding communities".
The technological warmth of modular folding communities
The folding community adopts standardized modular design, with prefabricated components produced in a factory-like manner, and customized spatial combinations according to needs. Each unit of the folding community is approximately 18 square meters, which can be used independently or combined and connected to form family suites and public facility spaces. The public facility spaces are generally equipped with 8-15 functional spaces, such as party building rooms, medical rooms, activity rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, etc., to meet the public needs of the community.
Each unit product has undergone multi-dimensional testing by the Hefei Public Safety Research Institute of Tsinghua University, demonstrating its resilience against magnitude 8 earthquakes, category 17 hurricanes, and extreme weather conditions. Whether it's for post-disaster home reconstruction or forward-looking layout of future new communities, it possesses unique advantages.
In the field of integrated container housing, the implementation of the folding community is based on practical cases such as "Gansu Jishishan" and is a forward-looking layout built upon this foundation.
The folding community will break away from the previous concept of a closed "independent space" in folding boxes, presenting itself in the form of an "ecological community". The standardized 18㎡ modules can be freely reorganized like Lego bricks, from a thousand-person emergency shelter to an ecological tribe. With modularization and rapid construction, a breathing life community can be built within 72 hours, transforming a temporary resettlement area into a sustainable living community.
Rebuild the world within the collapsed folds
On May 12, 2008, a magnitude 8.0 earthquake struck Wenchuan, Sichuan, resulting in 69,227 deaths, 17,923 missing persons, and 19.9303 million people losing their homes. The total number of people affected by the disaster reached 46.256 million.
On April 14, 2010, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Yushu, Qinghai Province, affecting a total area of 35,800 square kilometers and affecting 246,800 people. 210,500 houses collapsed.
The floods in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in 2016 caused a total loss of 313.44 billion yuan, with 441,000 houses collapsed and 2.155 million houses damaged across the country.
In the 2021 rainstorm and flood disaster in Henan, the affected population reached 14.786 million, with 1.49 million people urgently relocated and resettled.

Faced with the force majeure of natural disasters, the power of individual humans becomes increasingly insignificant. Having witnessed too many homes being destroyed and people's livelihoods being disrupted, Zeyu Housing has always placed post-disaster reconstruction projects at the core of its corporate development strategy. It not only systematically incorporates emergency housing solutions but also elevates them to a strategic fulcrum for fulfilling corporate social responsibility, using professional architectural expertise to build a line of defense for life protection.
From 2020 to 2022, Zeyu Housing provided approximately 8,000 sets of portable hospitals for construction projects nationwide. In 2021, Zeyu provided 500 sets of folding boxes for the flood relief efforts in Jun County, Henan Province. In 2023, during the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Jishishan, Gansu Province, Zeyu Housing donated 200 sets of folding box houses to build homes in Hefei, Anhui Province
The rifts of disasters shatter homes, and Zeyu Housing, leveraging its own capabilities and meeting the needs of others, has made post-disaster emergency response and home reconstruction one of its core business endeavors. By integrating the three essential elements of the "speed" of prefabricated buildings, the "convenience" of containers, and the "stability" of permanent structures, and validated through practical cases such as Jishishan in Gansu Province, Zeyu Housing has ushered in a new era of post-disaster resettlement, transitioning from "disaster relief tents" to "dignified communities".
